  • Position Type: Full-time, Permanent
  • Salary: £42,698.04, plus additional on-call allowance

About YMCA Brighton

At YMCA Brighton, our vision is to create an inclusive community where everyone can belong, contribute, and thrive. We provide the home, community, and services that equip individuals to overcome barriers and achieve their personal goals, guided by our core values of Community, Compassion, and Empowerment.

About the Role

Are you a compassionate leader looking to make a genuine difference in the community?

We are seeking an empathetic and reliable Project Manager to serve as an operational anchor and strategic guide for our supported housing service at Stanley Court on Lewes Road. Accommodating over 30 residents with medium support needs in independent studio apartments (including accessible options), Stanley Court offers a distinctive environment where individuals cultivate practical skills, confidence, and resilience for long-term independence.

As Project Manager, you will manage a dedicated frontline team and ensure high-quality service delivery within a warm Psychologically Informed Environment (PIE). Your role will encompass operational management, supporting resident-led initiatives and wellness drop-ins (such as Gardening Club, Art Club, and summer courtyard BBQs), and connecting residents with our EVOLVE work and learning service.

Key Responsibilities

  • Inspiring Leadership: Provide clear direction, day-to-day support, and compassionate leadership to your team. Manage recruitment, inductions, 1-to-1 supervision, performance reviews, and reflective practice sessions.
  • Trauma-Informed Environment: Embed PIE, strengths-based, and recovery-focused practices across all casework. Encourage resident involvement and co-production through initiatives like resident meetings, creative clubs, and social events.
  • Allocations & Partnerships: Lead the welcome process for prospective residents in collaboration with referral panels. Build strong networks with local commissioners, adult social care, MASH, health services, and community partners (e.g., CGL, Cocaine Anonymous).
  • Operations & Safety: Oversee property security, cleanliness, and maintenance schedules. Manage project expenditure, support residents with rent and financial inclusion, and participate in an emergency on-call rota for out-of-hours guidance.
  • Safeguarding & Compliance: Maintain robust safeguarding standards, strictly adhere to GDPR/confidentiality requirements, and ensure full compliance with health, safety, fire, and COSHH regulations.

Who We Are Looking For

We value diverse experience—whether gained through housing, social care, community organisation, or voluntary leadership roles.

Essential Criteria

  • Sector Knowledge: Deep understanding of homelessness, complex trauma, dual diagnosis, and social exclusion.
  • Practice Frameworks: Solid knowledge of Psychologically Informed Environments (PIE), strengths-based care, and recovery models.
  • Housing Systems: Practical knowledge of housing management, tenancy matters, and welfare systems (including Universal Credit).
  • Leadership & Operations: Proven experience line-managing, coaching, and supporting frontline staff, as well as managing budgets and tracking operational outcomes.
  • Communication & Resilience: Exceptional communication skills, emotional resilience, and the ability to manage complex or challenging situations calmly and assertively.
  • Values & Flexibility: Alignment with our core values of equity, diversity, and empowerment, with the flexibility to join our emergency on-call rota.

Desirable Criteria

  • Relevant qualifications in Housing, Social Care, or Management.

How to Apply

If you are ready to drive positive change and support our residents to flourish, we would love to hear from you. Please apply with an up-to-date CV and cover letter.

YMCA Brighton is committed to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of clients, volunteers, and staff. An enhanced DBS check and adherence to strict safeguarding practices are required for this role.
