YMCA Brighton are currently holding a wonderful art exhibition at Jubilee Library this week (17th to the 23rd of July), filled with artwork generously donated by clients of YMCA Brighton and EVOLVE (our Work and Learning service). This exhibition provides a space for clients of YMCA Brighton to have a voice and express themselves through art.
We’ve had great interest from a lot of our clients who have really enjoyed getting involved from all our YMCA properties across Brighton and Portslade, with the art consisting of all kinds of variations; from abstract expressionism and collages, to paintings and sculptures, all creatively representing individual experiences of our YMCA Brighton clients, with the hope of increasing awareness of the housing issues in the city. Their work is well worth the visit in person so please take a look without us spoiling anything further!
YMCA Brighton is a registered charity supporting the local people of Brighton and Hove to belong, contribute and thrive, in a consistent effort to reduce homelessness and increase wellbeing – we believe that for a lot of clients, art has a massive contribution to increasing positive wellbeing, and this has been a great way to show off all their work and effort, with the help of our superb team of Project Workers and Coaches who have been busy organising the event in anticipation of this week, ensuring this event has gone ahead smoothly.
You can find the art right at the entrance of the library on the right hand side – follow the YMCA Brighton posters!
